It is to the enormous credit of the staff, volunteers, voluntary boards and supporters of Simon that this review once again demonstrates our success in addressing homelessness across Ireland. As 2008 approaches, we are entering a critical phase in our work. We have long shared the view that ending homelessness is possible and, as a campaigning organisation as well as provider of services, have lobbied Government intensively to ensure that they work towards an objective of achieving this by 2010. The Government formalised such a commitment in the ‘Towards 2016’ social partnership agreement in 2006.
