As many as 290,000 people in Ireland are likely to be experiencing hidden homelessness, as friends or family are increasingly relied upon to provide accommodation for others.
Results from a poll showed that 1 in 4 report personally experiencing or knowing someone experiencing hidden homelessness, while 1 in 100 report both themselves and their family personally experiencing this.
The poll of 1,015 adults was carried out by Red C between July 22 and 27. Findings show 9pc of people had friends affected by hidden homelessness in the past 12 months.
Hidden homelessness is touching the lives of notable proportion of the Irish population, with 1 in 4 reporting either themselves, family, friends, or acquaintances affected by this.
